Work in Practice

Where enquiry meets the world.

Research, conversations and organisational change rarely unfold in straight lines. They begin with questions, deepen through relationships, and sometimes reveal possibilities we could not have anticipated.

This is a living collection of work across different contexts, from research and stakeholder engagement to organisational strategy and independent enquiry. Some projects are complete, others are still unfolding, and each offers something of the questions, approaches and learning that shape my practice.

What connects them is a curiosity about what is happening beneath the surface, whose perspectives might be missing, and how deeper understanding can inform meaningful decisions and change.

Carbon Care™

Research · Environmental Responsibility

Carbon Care™ brought together environmental research, organisational strategy and collaboration across disciplines to explore how businesses could take greater responsibility for their environmental impact.

Working with specialist researchers and practitioners, I helped bring together different forms of expertise, connecting research findings to the practical questions organisations face in understanding and reducing their impact.

The work reflects an approach that has remained central to my practice: understanding the wider systems in which organisations operate, asking questions that reach beyond immediate assumptions, and making research useful for those navigating change.

Listening to the maternity community

Stakeholder Enquiry · Organisational Strategy

In 2025, Sacred Birth Centre brought together maternity practitioners, doulas and others in Taunton for a day of curious conversation about what was needed within maternity care, and where advocacy might make a meaningful contribution.

The gathering was followed by a stakeholder survey, extending the opportunity to listen and understand different experiences and perspectives. Together, these enquiries helped focus the Centre's work around Birth Stories and the potential for conversations to facilitate change.

The relationships have continued through invitations to the Birth Stories exhibition, creating further opportunities for professional perspectives and women's lived experiences to inform the wider conversation.

This is an example of stakeholder engagement as an ongoing relationship rather than a single consultation exercise, where listening can help shape organisational priorities and open possibilities for action.

Second Spring

Independent Qualitative Research · In Progress

What becomes possible in a woman's life after menopause, when the expectations and identities that have shaped earlier decades begin to change?

Second Spring is an independent qualitative research enquiry exploring women's experiences of this transition, including questions of identity, desire, elderhood, sovereignty and flourishing.

Through in-depth conversations with women, the research listens for both the individual experiences and the wider social conditions that shape what becomes possible. It is an unfolding enquiry, where emerging themes inform further questions and where the research process itself creates space for reflection.

Alongside the interviews, workshops and writing offer opportunities to share emerging insights, deepen the conversation and invite new perspectives into the work.

What might we discover together?

Every organisation, community and enquiry begins from a different place. If you're navigating a complex question, seeking to understand the perspectives shaping your work, or considering how research might inform your next decisions, I'd welcome a conversation.
